I work in a company in a multi functional senior role.
From time to time i have worked for loss prevention (amounting in each case at a nice amount) saving the company at least a few lacs of rupees ( in our local currency).
The loss is prevented, or many a past crimes detected, policies followed and throughly investigated.
Yes i've studied law, the rest is excellence in human resources and a natural instinct.
It is also not my job KRA or any interest whatsoever.
While i completed my role to extract 4 confessions from such 4 bad people, my senior asked me as to why is it i have a 100% hit rate. .
What makes a criminal confess to me and not to others ?
How do i do it?
While i narrated the sequence of events that is followed and basics of human psychology and instinct.
What has this got to do with excellence?
1) At work?
Many an employee demonstrate excellence in their work structure, process, or results.
Few are good at structure, few good at passing the work around aka "Delegating".
Some are excellent in the way they present the situation, example :-every failure is a new step towards a new journey.
Few are good at sales, excellent results on time every time.
The sad part is who is there to recognize these talents ? Nuture them? Grow them?
And if such a person did exists what part of his job "Key Result Area "(KRA) basis of his job role would permit them to indulge for such activities.
And if such a KRA gets involved in work role, then human psychology would ensure a preference and partiality would set in.
The stark reality of so called businesses & professionals is everyone has their own KRA, Professional KRA or either Personal KRA or either a combination of both, 2 in 1,
What they say, they never do. What they don't say, they will always do and also find a reason to get you involved in achieving their KRA with your assistance.
Whose got time to recognize and nuture talent? NO ONE on a KRA.....
find a man who has a KRA, end of excellence, its a concept of give and take.
you give this, i give you that in return.
2)Personal, in our own lives?
Are you aware how many good qualities your (husband or wife as your gender be ) possess?
Are you aware of these same good qualities of your own parents?
Chances are you said a big "NO" immediately first then realised hey yes yes they have this quality...and such and so on.
Bit i am pretty sure if i posed this same question to you in the negative enquiring about their bad qualities , you would say (he /she has this bad annoying disgusting habit .... And your description of these qualities would be exhaustive.
What has this got to do with excellence? If you cannot recognize excellence how would you seek it in the first place and if, perish the thought, excellence was served to you on a Gold Platter you would still continue your descriptive search for your meaning of how it should be, not what it is , even though in front of you.
Everyone wants to comment on the grass thats greener on the other side of their corporate fences, who wants to water their own gardens ?
You will never reap flowers in your own garden by commenting on the green color of someone else's lawn.
Plant your own seeds,Nuture them well and then expect nature to reap your crop, of flowers, or grass or even people in your companies.
